Nashville…yee haw!

August 21st, 2009

After spending most of the day watching the E! True Hollywood Story of Mary Kay Letourneau’s scandal and Rachel Ray’s 30-minute crab chowdah macaroni & cheese melange, we rolled up to the Music City Bar & Grille for the last out-of-town show of our 10-week tour.

Friendly bartender Sean served us a round of drinks as we watched local cowboy crooner Brad Burns singing some tunes. I believe Kit updated his Facebook status to say: “Really cute cowboy on stage right now, hope he stays ;)” then proceeded to inappropriately snap a picture of him and upload it to his profile.

Despite a few shots of whiskey, Kit gradually looked more and more like death as the night drew on. By the time he got on stage, he looked totally out of it. The flu had been circulating amongst us, and we’d been fighting it as best as we could, but tonight it just wasn’t letting go of Kit. He did four numbers to the best of his ability and I tried to finish off the set even though my throat was agitated from smoke (yes, in Nashville you can smoke in a bar) and sickness.

We opened for an incredible band, The Dirty Proper, which held a residency at the bar every Thursday. They were so good we joined their mailing list and got their CD for the road. They are really solid, and all of the people in the band (and in the bar, and in Nashville in general!) were really friendly and awesome.

And here’s the best part of the night. After hearing for some time my friend Erin tell me about how amazing the buffalo wings at Hooters were, I finally got to experience them myself. My first Hooters experience! We had fried pickles, some sliders, and 20 wings. Ashley and I agreed that she could definitely work at Hooters, since our waitress Brittany’s boobs were not that big. But she was friendly and perky, and winked at me at the end of the night.

And that concludes our Nashville experience.
